Coding requires heavy use of symbols. Most alternative keyboards bury {}, [], and () behind multiple layers. Gloveboard puts them on the primary layer.

The Developer Layout

By default, Gloveboard ships with a developer-first chord map.

• Brackets: Thumb + Pinky + (Index/Middle/Ring for type).
• Underscore / CamelCase: Dedicated modifier chords allow you to type this_is_a_variable without ever reaching for a shift key.

Vim Integration

If you use Vim, Gloveboard is a revelation. Because your hands never leave the "home row" (because there is no row), switching modes and firing off complex macros (cw, ci[, :%s/foo/bar/g) becomes entirely muscle memory.

You will type faster in Vim on Gloveboard than you ever could on a standard mechanical keyboard.

The Coffee Shop Problem

Laptops have terrible keyboards. Mechanical keyboards are too loud and bulky for public spaces.

Gloveboard is completely silent. You can sit back in a chair at a coffee shop, hands resting naturally in your lap or on the armrests, and write code on your laptop screen. Your posture improves, and your footprint shrinks.
