Gloveboard vs CharaChorder

CharaChorder is an incredible piece of engineering. It holds records for typing speed. But it is still tied to a desk.

The Philosophy

CharaChorder uses 3D switches (moving a joystick in 4 directions) to input chords. It is undeniably faster for raw data entry once mastered. Gloveboard uses binary flex (bent or straight). It is slightly slower, but infinitely more portable.

The Learning Curve

Because CharaChorder relies on 3D spatial movement for every finger, the learning curve is notoriously steep—often taking months to reach usable speeds. Gloveboard's binary flex system is simpler. Our testers reach 40 WPM in roughly 10 hours of practice. (Calculate yours here).

Posture

CharaChorder still requires hovering your hands over a device on a desk. Gloveboard allows complete postural freedom.

If you are a court stenographer, buy a CharaChorder. If you are a developer who wants to work from a sofa, a standing desk, or a VR headset, buy Gloveboard.
